The
Prospect Ranger District of the Rogue River National Forest invites you to
explore the upper Rogue River country. Located in the Cascade Mountains ,
the District's 242,000 acres offer a variety of natural features and
recreational opportunities. The District is bisected by the Rogue-Umpqua
Scenic Byway, and provides access to the Sky
Lakes and Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness areas, the Wild and Scenic
Upper Rogue River, and adjoins Crater
Lake National Park.
Prospect Ranger District Campgrounds
Camp along the Rogue River, watch the elk graze in the meadows near Hamaker
Campground. Spend a fall weekend gathering huckleberries near Huckleberry
Campground. Prospect District offers 8 campgrounds from the small, remote
River Bridge Campground (6 sites) to the popular Union Creek Campground (78 sites). Some charge a nominal fee & supply drinking water, while
others have no fee & no potable water. Visit the Prospect Ranger Station

Abbot Creek
Campground
Seasonal opening and closing dates are variable according to weather. This
campground generally closes in mid-October. RV sites can accommodate motor
homes up to 20 feet. Fee $8, additional vehicle $4. 25 tent/trailer sites, well water, host. 3100'
elevation. 10 miles N of Prospect.
Farewell
Bend Campgrounds
Nested on the Rogue River a short walk from Union Creek Resort, these campgrounds
offer easy access to several trails & scenic vistas. Interpretive programs.
Playground at Farewell Bend. Fees include water. Firewood available at
additional fee.
Fee $12, additional vehicle $6 - Handicap accessible, 61 tent/trailer
sites. Favorite for large trailers. Flush toilets, piped water, host.
3400' elevation, 12 miles N of Prospect, off Hwy 62.
Hamaker
Campground
Seasonal opening and
closing dates for this recreation site vary according to weather. RV sites
can accommodate motor homes up to 30 feet.
Fee $8, additional
vehicle $4. 10 tent/small trailer sites. Well off highway, meadows,
wildflowers, toilet facilities. 4000' elevation. 23 miles N of
Prospect off Hwy 62.
Huckleberry
Mountain Campground
Seasonal opening and
closing dates for this recreation site vary according to weather.
No fee. 25 tent/trailer sties, well, isolated. 5400' elevation. 19 miles
NE of Prospect, off Hwy 62.
Mill Creek

Located along Mill
Creek and is a popular fishing location. Seasonal opening and closing
dates vary according to weather. Fee
$6, additional vehicle $3. 10 tent/trailer sites. Good for tents.
Close to Prospect. 2800' elevation, no water. 2.5 miles NE of
Prospect.
Natural
Bridge Campground
Natural Bridge
Campground is located along the scenic Upper Rogue River. Activities and
points of interest include fishing and hiking. The Natural Bridge
interpretive trail is near by. Seasonal opening and closing dates for this
recreation site vary according to weather.
Fee $5,
additional vehicle $2.50. No water, 17 tent/trailer sites, handicapped
accessible. Exquisite portion of Rogue River (use extreme caution along
this portion of the river). 3200' elevation. 9 miles N of Prospect off
Hwy 62.
River
Bridge Campground
River Bridge is very small campground with limited facilities, but
generous site spacing and excellent river access. Activities include
fishing and hiking. Seasonal opening and closing dates for this recreation
site vary according to weather. Fee -
$6, additional vehicle $3. No water, 8 tent-trailer sites.
Surrounds of large sugar pines, good trail area, 2900' elevation, 5.5 mi.
N of Prospect, off Hwy 62.
Union Creek
Union Creek is a popular camping area with good river access. Activities
include hiking and fishing. Seasonal opening and closing dates are
variable according to weather. RV sites can accommodate motor homes up to
30 feet.
Fee - $10, additional vehicle $5. largest campground with 78 tent/trailer
sties. Piped water, hosts, handicap accessible, 3200' elevation, 10 miles
N of Prospect, off Hwy 62.

Butte Falls District uses a mail-in reservation process from January through
March and call-in reservations from March to May. All sites are obtained on a "first
come - first served" basis. To get on the reservation mailing list,

Big Ben
No fee. Open
year-round. 4000' elevation. 22 miles NE of Butte Falls off Hwy 62.
Fishing, 2 tent sites. No drinking water.
Fourbit
Ford Campground
Fourbit Ford Campground is a quiet place to camp only a short drive from
Willow Lake.
Very popular - great fishing. 7 tent sites, water. Fee $10. additional vehicle
$5.
Imnaha
Springs
Activities and points of
interest include structures constructed by the CCC in the 1930s, hiking
trails and Imnaha Springs. The Imnaha Cabin is available through the
forest cabin rental
program. Fee $6, additional vehicle $3. no water. Cool. Short walk to
Inmaha Springs, site of historic Civilian Conservation Corps Guard
Station. 3800' elevation.
Parker
Meadows Campgound
Fee $6,

Noted for the shelter built by the Civilian Conservation
Corps and for great berry picking.
Activities include
hiking and fishing. 8 sites with water.
South
Fork Campground
Fee $6, additional vehicle
$3. two tent, 4 tent/trailer sites. well water. Fishing So. Fork of Rogue
River. Many hiking opportunities along river in old-growth. Open
year-round, 4000' elevation, 20 mi. NE of Butte Falls off Hwy 62.
Whiskey
Springs
Fee $10, additional vehicle $5. 10 miles from the town of Butte Falls and offers
fishing, swimming and boating opportunities within a few minutes drive. It has
17 tent, 19 tent/trailer spots. Handicap accessible. Wonderful trail area
for family. 3 mi NE of Willow Lake. 3200' elevation. 8 mi E of Butte Falls
off Hwy 62.
Willow Lake
Eight miles beyond Butte Falls. Fishing, campsites and cabins. Cabins
sleep 6 with 2 bedrooms and hide-a-bed in living room. Shower, kitchen,
linens, utensils, pots & pans provided. Cabin rental through Jackson
County Parks (541) 774-8183.
Willow Prairie Horse Camp
Fee $8, additional vehicle $4. Horse camp, well. 10 sites. 15 mi beyond
Butte Falls on the Butte Falls-Fish Lake Highway. 4400' elevation. Willow Prairie Horse Camp is located on Forest Road 3735 on the Butte
Falls Ranger District. The campground has ten campsites with four corrals
each. The Willow Prairie Trail System is the closest trail system to the
campground and provides several loop opportunities. This trail system also
ties in with the Willow Lake and Rye Springs Trail Systems. All three
trail systems begin from the campground. Northwest
